HANNAH TRAVIS - age 11 of Hillsborough, CA (Umoja & Ujamaa plus Imani Understudy | SOUND) The lovely Miss Travis is a 4.0 student at West Hillsborough School. Having performed this summer in an Institute of Reading Development Video Companion DVD and for Pangs Theater Ensemble, she has modeled for the likes of Mervyns & Charles Schwab. With additional theater performances, Hannah is graced with multiple artistic skills.
ALEXANDRA BRINGER - age 12 of San Ramon, CA (Kujichagulia & Ujamaa plus Nia Understudy | KINARA) With performance in her blood, Alex has played for Playhouse West and Be Productions. As a 4.0 Iron Horse Middle School student she won October & December 2007 “Student of the Month”. Alexandra wants to thank her mom for driving around the Bay to build her daughter’s entertainer career.
MIKI RAI - age 11 of Cupertino, CA (Ujamaa, Nia & Imani plus Umoja Understudy | STAGE MANAGER) This lively little bundle of talent has TV Show & Commercial, Musical & Dance performance, Ballet & Gymnastics plus Radio & Master of Ceremony experience. She also played in an Institute of Reading Development Video Companion DVD of Beverly Cleary’s The Mouse & the Motorcycle. Is being The Troupe’s hardest worker causing Miki to look so alive on stage?
DAYTRA JACKSON - age 12 of Oakland, CA (Kwanzaa Dance plus Ujamaa Understudy | SET) As an original BBiBS Trouper, Daytra played in TTTT’s first out of California tour. She is our only performer left from Kwanzaa’s world debut at San Francisco’s Pier 39 and the only Third Baptist Church member in the 2008 Ensemble. Daytra is in 7th grade at E. C. Rheem.
KRISTEN GIPSON - age 14 of Oakland, CA (Ujamaa & Kwanzaa Dance plus Kujichagulia Understudy | COSTUMES) An award winning Rising Stars student, Kristen was seen on a “WB20" commercial, on Youtube and also on TV for Be Productions. A straight “A” San Leandro High student, she has a long list of special talents.
PHILLIP E WALKER (DIRECTOR / PRODUCER) The African American Drama Company’s Artistic Director, Phillip has worked with youth since 1971. Following a Loyola University of Chicago BA, he earned a University of Illinois-Urbana MA and University of California-Davis MFA. As a stage actor his Can I Speak For You Brother? has played every United State at least twice. Phil was seen in 2007’s #1 movie Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith and he’s featured in the upcoming MILK with Sean Penn. Mr. Walker is founder of WALKER ENTERTAINER ACADEMY.

ANGELA HSU-age16 of Sunnyvale, CA (Ujamaa & Imani | MUSIC & 2007 SINGING COACH) “Mom says `Angela you always have big goals...many other talented people have them too.` Maybe that’s what I need to hear. My singing, acting and piano have grown from hobbies to addictions. `Dreams are what gets it started, failure and determination is what keeps it going.` Thank you mommy!” Now a Notre Dame High-SJ senior, Angela strives to select the “perfect college”.
COURTNEY HITT - age 10 of Ukiah, CA (Kujichagulia | SET) Our youngest Trouper, Courtney surely “holds her own”. Home schooled, there is talk of her making a record demo. Her acting, modeling, dancing & singing was noticed at 2008’s iPOP! new professional talent search in LA.
FELINE CLEVER - age 11 of San Jose, CA (Nia | SET) Kwanzaa’s actual European, Feline has German print ad credits. A member of the National Gifted & Talented Education Program, her musical theatre experience includes Children’s Musical Theater-San Jose. Miss Clever’s latest film work was also in the upcoming Milk with Sean Penn.
YSABELA SMITH - age 13 of San Francisco, CA (Ujima | WATER) Ysabela is a Claire Lilienthal student who just finished playing Anita in West Side Story at the Randall Museum. There she also played in Aida and High School Musical. In college she wants to major in drama.

NICK BEN - age 14 of San Jose, CA (Nia | SOUND) Nick enjoys acting. He would love to make it and perhaps modeling, a profession in the future. So far, working with Kwanzaa has been fun. Master Ben can’t wait to “get out there and perform!”
ARMANDO DELAHERRAN - age 15 of Dos Palos, CA (Ujamaa Dad Understudy) A Junior Varsity football player, Armando loves to listen to music. Life is good for Master Delaherran when he is with family and friends.
KRYSTAL DELAHERRAN - age 12 of Dos Palos, CA (Kujichagulia) A cheerleader for her school, Krystal enjoys reading, acting, singing and dancing. She also loves being with family and friends.
MURIEL DONAHUE - age 12 of San Francisco, CA (Umoja & Ujamaa Daughter | WATER) Acting is Muriel’s most favorite thing to do in the whole world. She is a straight A student with her favorite subject being math. Someday, Miss Donahue wants to act in Hollywood.
MATTHEW LIJON - age 15 of Gilroy, CA (Ensemble | DANCE CAPTAIN) Selected as Teen Dance 2nd runner-up in 2007's iPOP-LA competition, Matt loves making dances with his favorite being Krumping. Further, he is featured in two (2) TV shows.
ACE ELIA PAYNE - age 10 of San Francisco, CA (Kujichagulia Audience Plant Understudy) An original Third Theatre Trouper, Ace has turned his school grades around. He is now one of the top students in his class.
ZION PAYNE - age 12 of San Francisco, CA (Ensemble) As an original “BBiBS Kid”, Zion was one of only six Troupers selected to perform at North Carolina’s National Black Theatre Festival and Black Theatre Network Conference in 2005. He wants to be in the movies.

RACHEL PERRYMAN - age 14 of Fremont, CA (Kwanzaa | HOUSING) Rachel wants to be an actress. “At first I thought it would come easily. When it didn’t I got discouraged. So my mom told me the difference between famous actors and the wanna be actors - - ‘Stars work hard and the others do not’, she said. I won’t stop at anything now! And this Program has shown me how great it can be.”
JAZMINE POLK - age 13 of Pleasant Hill, CA (Ujamaa Mom) Jazmine studied at ACT and is an original Trouper. Her modeling work includes a Macy’s ad. Now a St. Brigid School 8th grader, she has held a passion for entertaining since age 5. Miss Polk strives for a profession as an actor or lawyer.
MARCUS IZIAH POLK - age 11 of Pleasant Hill, CA (Ujamaa Son | FIRE) A smart and funny fellow, Marcus is a basketball playing actor who studied at Kids on Camera and worked on Will Smith’s Pursuit of Happyness. Always up for a challenge, this original BBiBS Trouper wants to be an entrepreneur.
MELINA POLK - age 8 of Pleasant Hill, CA (Kujichagulia Audience Plant | KINARA) BBiBS’ Trouper of the Year for 2007 and the only performer to have played in Kwanzaa’s first three (3) seasons, Melina is known as a nice, caring and generous person. This young Miss Polk loves to dance, sing, swim and read. An “A” student, she is determined to be a doctor. So watch out, for Melina!
GENESIS SANCHEZ - age 15 of San Leandro, CA (Ujamaa Dad) Proud to be performing in this show, Genesis loves the theatre. In addition to acting Genesis plays drums, keyboard and raps. He thanks the audience for coming and wishes all a blessed Kwanzaa.
ZERENA SHAW - age 11 of San Francisco, CA (Ujamaa Daughter Understudy | COSTUMES) A class of 2010 DeMarillac Academy student, Zerena is an original BBiBS Trouper having played in the National Black Theatre Festival / BTN performances. A star of her school’s basketball and volleyball teams, she likes to perform and participate in different activities. She also wants to be a doctor.
TERRELL SLOAN - age 12 of San Jose, CA (Ujamaa Son) Represented by San Francisco’s Ford Models, Advance LA & Abrams Artist in Los Angeles, Terrell has performed for San Jose’s Children’s Playhouse and Children’s Musical Theater. He also plays basketball.

CIERRA BIVINS - age 13 of Oakland (DANCE CAPTAIN | Ujamaa Child & Dancer) Cierra enjoys music, dancing and singing. She is a Kalani Club volleyball player and has played basketball since 4th grade. Miss Bivins also enjoys ballroom and Latin dancing.
HEIDI CHEUNG - age 14 of San Ramon (HOUSE MGR. | Umoja / Kwanzaa Understudy) Heidi has studied piano since age 6. With a love of singing, dancing & acting, she sees Kwanzaa as a great combination of each. Ms. Cheung was the 2004 Northern California Model, competing in American Coed Pageant Nationals in Orlando, FL.
SARAH GRAMAJO - age 13 of Brentwood (FIRE | Kujichagulia) Sarah enjoys piano, singing and guitar. She dreams of living as a New York fashion designer and/or actress. Ms. Gramajo strives to be rich in order to help needy people. She concentrates on her school studies both for growth and fun.
KELLY OLSZEWSKI - age17 of San Jose (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR | Ujamaa Mom & Kwanzaa) Kelly ended her shyness when given advise she would like to share “To fear death is to limit life”. Therefore, she thinks we should “take risks, dare to be different, and most importantly, be ourselves and live our lives!”
